Thanks to everyone who came out for our first Silver Lake Booking ⚔️ Hot Plate show of 2026!

We came back from a little winter hibernation with a great lineup featuring Secret Pint—which played together for the first time in 20 years for their new record release show—along with Class Ring, Creative Writing, and Quarter Tone.

As always, we had a great time, and we’re looking forward to our two shows in May—the first one will be THIS FRIDAY following our First Fridays festivities.

🚨 New Beer Alert! 🚨

We’re incredibly proud to announce that on Saturday, April 25, we’ll be launching Lion’s Ale, our new collab with @redlioninn

We’ll be celebrating the launch of this beer at the Red Lion Inn from 2-4pm, and the beer will be available on the nitro tap line as well as cans to go.

We’ll also be serving this on our nitro line in the taproom starting tomorrow, and also have cans to go as well!

As you can imagine, we’re thrilled to be teaming up with such an iconic part of The Berkshires, and we can’t wait to share this English-Style Amber Ale with you all!

🍻 This week, Sarah was fortunate to head down to the Craft Brewers Conference in Philly, where she worked the Pink Boots booth for a bit and also got to hang with her cohort from the Michael James Jackson Foundation.

Not only was she able to reconnect with some of her favorite folks in the industry, but she got to fangirl out over Garrett Oliver, a beer industry legend in his own right and one of her personal heroes (and her not-awkward-at-all pic with him proves it 🤣).

It was a bit of whirlwind down to Philly and back, but definitely worth it to get re-inspired by the folks in this industry who are working every day to make a difference.

With the support of the Pittsfield Cultural Council, we were able to host a whole day’s worth of events at the Berkshire Athenaeum and Hot Plate Brewing Co., and we were able to welcome hundreds of people to checkout our author Q&A, our Exhibitors Hall, the Book Fair, Social Hour, and Literary Trivia.

We had a feeling there were a bunch of book lovers out there, and we’re so happy we were able to connect with all of you. This community really SHOWED UP on Saturday, and we’re so grateful for that!

☕️ Brewed with Soul Rave coffee, from our good friends @monsoonroastery this coffee stout is black as midnight on a moonless night, and these beans make a damn fine cup of coffee too (which we also serve in the taproom).

🤫 And in a few weeks, we’ll be dropping a custom blend from Monsoon as well, but we’re not quite ready to share all the details on that!

Last week, we tapped the first of several beers that they’ll be selling in their taproom, along with stocking their fridge with some four packs to go.

As a pair of married owners and operators, we were not only excited to team up for their taproom and brainstorm about cross promoting, but to talk shop a bit and share some of our insights and the perks or challenges of running a small business these days.

In the coming weeks, we’ll have some exciting events to share as we get closer to the busy seasons, but if you’re in the area now, be sure to stop by their cidery and winery in Richmond, MA!

While that was going on, Mike was MC’ing an author reading with a bunch of great Massachusetts-based writers. @jen_acker read from her forthcoming novel, SURRENDER; @ednahi read from ALL THAT LIFE CAN AFFORD, which was a @reesesbookclub selection; and @julianzabalbeascoa read from WHAT WE BURIED GROWS HERE, an @latimes Book Prize Finalist.

Thanks to our friends at @indiereaderandrecords Emily’s and Julian’s books were also available for sale and they were kind enough to sign a bunch of copies.

Yesterday, we put The High Priestess back on tap!

Of all the beers that rotate on and off, our blackcurrant sour ale definitely gets the most requests whenever it goes away, which is why we’re thinking of making it a year-round staple of ours.

Brewed with spent blackcurrants from our friends at @currentcassis and pomegranate, this sour is fruit forward with just the right amount of tartness to ensure that it’s still approachable and refreshing.

We first had the chance to support Calling All Crows when DISPATCH came to town in 2024, and we were thrilled to team up with them for another special fundraising event.

This organization mobilizes arts and music fans to support feminist movements. This type of work is more important than ever, and we left this event feeling inspired and excited to keep working with Calling All Crows at our taproom and beyond.

Thanks to Monica and team for the invite, and to Chad for all the work he’s doing offstage!

A lot of individuals and organizations correctly tout the need to shop and support local. Most of us instinctively understand the reasons why: small businesses are the lifeblood of communities and corporations are pretty damn evil—even the ones that make half-assed attempts not to be.

There is, of course, the environmental benefit of shopping local, too. You keep your own carbon footprint low and reduce the amount of packaging, refrigeration, and/or fossil fuels needed to get products shipped across the country or world.

When we pick up hops from our friends at @fourstarfarms however, we remember that besides the economic and environmental benefits, the real value of shopping local are the relationships that we are able to form.

Over the years, Liz and Sarah have gone from being collaborators and @mabrewersguild board members to genuine friends. We proudly brew as many beers as we can with hops from Four Star Farms, and we do so not just because we want our beers to showcase a little Massachusetts terroir but because we care about the people behind the product.

And it turns out that Liz and Nate make pretty good dog sitters, too! 🐾

Last but not least, on March28 at 2pm we’ll be welcoming @julianzabalbeascoa @ednahi and @moloney.d to our taproom for a reading. Mike will also be joining and reading from his novel in progress.

One of the reasons we’re so proud of this is because the recognition goes beyond the identity politics of being one of very few BIWOC-owned breweries and our origin story of starting to homebrew on a hot plate in 2017. What we’re building here transcends how Sarah identifies, the industry we’re in, and how we got started.

Before we opened our doors, Sarah brought almost 20 years of experience as a consumer insights expert to the table. Combined with her personal grit and creativity, she’s been navigating the volatile post-COVID world here in Pittsfield and also by serving on the board of directors for both the @mabrewersguild and @pinkbootssociety

We’re going to celebrate our fearless Jefa in the taproom on Thursday, March 19 (which also happens to be Sarah’s birthday) and you’re all invited!

Swing by and help us make yet another crack in the double-glass ceiling we’re trying to shatter every day.

In addition to launching our collab with @harpoonbrewery which was brewed with hops from @fourstarfarms and malt from @stonepathmalt

We’ll also have glasses and T-shirts for sale in the taproom, featuring artwork by @pintsandpanels

We’re getting the party started the night before with a special taproom performance by our friends @thewolves_band and we’ll have special prizes to give away during Trivia and SPINDLE next week!

Today, we’re tapping Amelia, our Helles Lager, which we’re bringing back after a pretty long hiatus.

Sarah first wrote this recipe when we were still homebrewing on a hot plate—it was one of the last ones we actually made on a hot plate, and it was her first “transatlantic” lager, which is why we named it in honor of Amelia Earhart.

The label art for the 4-packs (which are also available in the taproom starting today) are a nod to the colors found on Amelia’s plane.

And we’re rounding out the month with a bunch of literary events, discussing I WHO HAVE KNOWN MEN by Jacqueline Harpman, and several authors reading from their recent works.

We’ll also be throwing our first VIP party for The Scrum, and the top-ten members for Q1 will be getting the invite for that.
