For those of you who didn’t know, this is the second year that Massachusetts has allowed breweries to sell 4-packs at Farmers Markets, and every Friday, Sarah’s been heading down to Lenox, which is new to us this year.

Over the course of the season, we’ve loved getting to know fellow vendors their like Common Hands Farm from NY and our literal neighbors Mill Brook Sugar House.

We’ve been dreaming up some collab recipes using ingredients from their operations and are looking forward to teaming up later in the year for some small batches.

Apparently, today is International Beer Day, and it seemed as good a time as any to let you all know the exciting news: Although we had to say goodbye to our friends at Big Elm earlier this year, it’s not the end of Das Boot!

Earlier this week, Sarah, @christinelb75 , and @liz.letoile from @fourstarfarms brewed this year’s batch of Das Boot, festbier we’ll be launching just in time for Oktoberfest.

For those of you who don’t know, Big Elm started brewing Das Boot as a collab with the women in beer in Western MA several years ago, and we wanted to keep this tradition alive here at Hot Plate.

We’ll have it on draft and in cans, and we’ll have more to come as we get closer to launch!

Today, Sarah had the chance to head out to @coldharborbrewing for a @mabrewersguild BOD meeting followed by a member meetup with @ericpaley the MA Secretary of Economic Development.

We don’t get out of Western Mass too much during the summertime, so it’s nice when we have a chance to reconnect with our industry pals from Eastern and Central MA.

As a policy and political advocacy nerd, serving on the state brewers guild BOD is definitely one of Sarah’s favorite parts of the job, too.

Wanted to give a shout out to @pittsfield_green for completing a transitional season with a ton of grace and class.

We’ve been teaming up with these guys since our first summer, and even though the first three ended up with championships, we really liked the energy of the squad this year.

They had a new lineup and their best scorer was injured about halfway through the season, but from the get go, they went into this year knowing it wasn’t about wins and losses in a co-ed 40+ league—it was more about being a team and bonding as a group, which was apparent to us whenever they’d come into the taproom after the games.

While it was fun to see them win championships in years past, we loved that this year you couldn’t tell the difference between wins and losses when the games were over and they were having some beers (or in Marco’s case, raspberry hard seltzers 🤣) because the vibes were always good.

We’ve never been prouder to be a part of this group, and it’s a good reminder for us all that it’s never just about what the scoreboard says.

📣 Hot Plate Book Club members (and book lovers in general): this month, we’ll be reading and discussing WHAT WE TRIED TO BURY GROWS HERE by @julianzabalbeascoa

We first teamed up with Julian in 2025 when we paired our Blackcurrant Sour Ale with his work for the One Story Debutante Ball, and we also were fortunate enough to have him read from his work this March.

If you’re like Mike, and you haven’t read a book about the Spanish Civil War since For Whom the Bell Tolls, this is a great one to pick up. With a variety of POV characters, we experience how the war affected the Basque Country in a really powerful way.

We’ll be meeting to discuss this book on Wednesday, July 29 at 7pm and we’ll be joined (virtually) by Julian, too!

🎉 Yesterday, we were fortunate enough to have Governor @maura_healey stop by our taproom for a meet and greet with local voters.

Governor Healey spent the whole day touring Pittsfield, and speaking with folks who are working together to create a tech hub for this city.

We also had a chance to briefly talk shop with the Governor, and to thank her once again for allowing breweries to now sell at Farmers Markets, which has been a huge boon for us.

Thanks again to the whole Healey team, and to @reptriciafb for always doing great work behind the scenes for us and the whole community.

If you’re heading to see @jonstewart, or any of the other shows in this year’s great @tanglewoodmusicfestival lineup, be sure to check out our Deep Cuts IPA.

Brewed with Cascade Deep Cut and Estate Comet hops from @crosbyhops this hazy IPA has a classic, citrus-forward flavor and at 6.5% it’s not too boozy either!

🎉 Good News: Carly’s back after another successful season coaching Girls’ Lacrosse *and* we’ve just got a new Non-Alcoholic Lime Lager!

While we’re super proud that Carly and her squad keep killing it in Western Mass each year, we’re selfishly happy to have her slinging beers behind the bar this summer!

And the new NA lime lager from @bestdaybrewing is one a few new non-alcoholic drinks on our menu thanks to our lineup of craft sodas from @drinkculturepop

📢⚽️ We are less than one week away from the start of the World Cup, and we wanted to remind you that in addition to showing all matches on our TVs, we’ll also be shutting down School Street on Friday, June 12 for a block party to watch the USA home opener!

All tournament long, we’ll be teaming up with @espetinhocarioca413 for food specials in the taproom and we’ll be joined by members of our squad @pittsfield_green for some of the key matches.

Everything gets started next Thursday when Mexico kicks things off against South Africa at 3pm (right when we open)!

🎉🐶 Dog lovers: we’ve got some really exciting news! We’ve teamed up with our friends @roxies_barkery for some custom dog treats made using our spent grain.

Not only are these Fredo-approved treats healthy and delicious for your pups, but since we’re using byproducts from our beers, they’re sustainable, too!

We’ll have these treats for sale in the taproom and at farmers markets, so swing by with your little ones and check these Golden Grain Bites!

Even though Mother Nature wasn’t on our side yesterday, we still had a blast participating in Shawarmapalooza, which kicked off the 3rd Annual Women in Hospitality event at @toursistswelcome

We were pouring alongside our friends @berkshirecider while the fine folks at @casitaberkshires were slinging shawarma platters.

After food and drinks, we got to see an awesome Sing for your Slumber set featuring @anniehartforsure

While we’ll use any excuse to make the trek up to TOURISTS, this weekend has become one of our favorite annual events!
