🎉🍁🍻 This Friday, we’re releasing two fall favorites!

We’ll have Das Boot, a collaborative festbier that we brewed with @bigelmbeer and @fourstarfarms available on tap and in four packs!

We’re also releasing a small batch edition of Shred the Cello, our Jalapeño Pale Ale, which will be in 12 oz bottles this year and features label art by our very own Andrea!

We’ll be launching both this Friday, September 18. Hope to see you there!

This was without a doubt our best summer yet, and that was in large part because of the hard work of this amazing crew. We’re lucky as hell to have them, and we’re always happy when we have a chance to spend time together as a whole team. ❤️

Along with our friends at @getpotency and @silverlakebooking413 we were so excited to welcome back @modernegoband who headlined the show with support from @theuglystage @grief_group @lifeabuse and @agonistaband who was a late addition to the bill and traveled all the way from Tijuana!

As always, we love putting on these shows, and giving independent artists a place to connect with fans and likeminded folks. In between the songs themselves, Life Abuse’s lead singer reminded us how important it is to have each others’ backs through these hard times and it really resonated with all of us.

Thanks again to Potency, the bands, Silver Lake, and the fans who keep making this all so fun.

📚🍻 At the @gbfarmersmrkt last week, a non-beer drinker sampled Capable of Anything, liked it, and described it as “beer for people who read,” which obviously made our day.

Since we are a bookish crew, we wanted to share a recommendation of one of the best books we read this summer: ADA by @markhaber

Ada was just published last month at @coffeehousepress and Mike just got it from the @berkshireathenaeum this week. It’s a very short novel (90 pages told in a single, manic paragraph). And it’s a hilarious rambling of a mad king pining for the return of Ada, a one-night stand from the narrator’s youth.

It’s a super-quick read and it’s filled with an unbelievable amount one laugh-out-loud one-liners.

We’re pairing this one with our Agent Cooper Coffee Stout becuse of its dark and playful style, and the coffee from @monsoonroastery adds a lot of interesting character to the beer, just like this Mad King. (And because, you know, the publisher is Coffee House Press.)

For those of you who didn’t know, this is the second year that Massachusetts has allowed breweries to sell 4-packs at Farmers Markets, and every Friday, Sarah’s been heading down to Lenox, which is new to us this year.

Over the course of the season, we’ve loved getting to know fellow vendors their like Common Hands Farm from NY and our literal neighbors Mill Brook Sugar House.

We’ve been dreaming up some collab recipes using ingredients from their operations and are looking forward to teaming up later in the year for some small batches.

Apparently, today is International Beer Day, and it seemed as good a time as any to let you all know the exciting news: Although we had to say goodbye to our friends at Big Elm earlier this year, it’s not the end of Das Boot!

Earlier this week, Sarah, @christinelb75 , and @liz.letoile from @fourstarfarms brewed this year’s batch of Das Boot, festbier we’ll be launching just in time for Oktoberfest.

For those of you who don’t know, Big Elm started brewing Das Boot as a collab with the women in beer in Western MA several years ago, and we wanted to keep this tradition alive here at Hot Plate.

We’ll have it on draft and in cans, and we’ll have more to come as we get closer to launch!

Today, Sarah had the chance to head out to @coldharborbrewing for a @mabrewersguild BOD meeting followed by a member meetup with @ericpaley the MA Secretary of Economic Development.

We don’t get out of Western Mass too much during the summertime, so it’s nice when we have a chance to reconnect with our industry pals from Eastern and Central MA.

As a policy and political advocacy nerd, serving on the state brewers guild BOD is definitely one of Sarah’s favorite parts of the job, too.

Today, Sarah had the chance to head out to @coldharborbrewing for a @mabrewersguild BOD meeting followed by a member meetup with @ericpaley the MA Secretary of Economic Development.

Wanted to give a shout out to @pittsfield_green for completing a transitional season with a ton of grace and class.

We’ve been teaming up with these guys since our first summer, and even though the first three ended up with championships, we really liked the energy of the squad this year.

They had a new lineup and their best scorer was injured about halfway through the season, but from the get go, they went into this year knowing it wasn’t about wins and losses in a co-ed 40+ league—it was more about being a team and bonding as a group, which was apparent to us whenever they’d come into the taproom after the games.

While it was fun to see them win championships in years past, we loved that this year you couldn’t tell the difference between wins and losses when the games were over and they were having some beers (or in Marco’s case, raspberry hard seltzers 🤣) because the vibes were always good.

We’ve never been prouder to be a part of this group, and it’s a good reminder for us all that it’s never just about what the scoreboard says.

📣 Hot Plate Book Club members (and book lovers in general): this month, we’ll be reading and discussing WHAT WE TRIED TO BURY GROWS HERE by @julianzabalbeascoa

We first teamed up with Julian in 2025 when we paired our Blackcurrant Sour Ale with his work for the One Story Debutante Ball, and we also were fortunate enough to have him read from his work this March.

If you’re like Mike, and you haven’t read a book about the Spanish Civil War since For Whom the Bell Tolls, this is a great one to pick up. With a variety of POV characters, we experience how the war affected the Basque Country in a really powerful way.

We’ll be meeting to discuss this book on Wednesday, July 29 at 7pm and we’ll be joined (virtually) by Julian, too!

🎉 Yesterday, we were fortunate enough to have Governor @maura_healey stop by our taproom for a meet and greet with local voters.

Governor Healey spent the whole day touring Pittsfield, and speaking with folks who are working together to create a tech hub for this city.

We also had a chance to briefly talk shop with the Governor, and to thank her once again for allowing breweries to now sell at Farmers Markets, which has been a huge boon for us.

Thanks again to the whole Healey team, and to @reptriciafb for always doing great work behind the scenes for us and the whole community.

🎉 Yesterday, we were fortunate enough to have Governor @maura_healey stop by our taproom for a meet and greet with local voters.

Governor Healey spent the whole day touring Pittsfield, and speaking with folks who are working together to create a tech hub for this city.

We also had a chance to briefly talk shop with the Governor, and to thank her once again for allowing breweries to now sell at Farmers Markets, which has been a huge boon for us.

Thanks again to the whole Healey team, and to @reptriciafb for always doing great work behind the scenes for us and the whole community.

🇺🇸 We’ve got a much of events lined up heading into the 250th Anniversary of the Declaration of Independence.

⚽️ We’re kicking things off with a watch party on Wednesday night as the US men’s national team enters the knockout round of the World Cup. We’ll still have food specials from @espetinhocarioca413 for you to check out!

🍻 On Friday, we’ll be closing down School Street to set up a block party with beer garden and projector to show all the World Cup matches as well as releasing our MA250 collab beer we brewed with @harpoonbrewery

🎆 Who needs fireworks when you’ve got the @berkshirefifeanddrum and @berkshire_cider teaming up with us for 4th of July Party in the taproom. We’ll have coffee, mimosas, Bloody Marys and more!

Along with our friends @harpoonbrewery this ESB is inspired by the styles of ales early Americans were drinking during the Revolution, and the name—Intrepid & Inflexible—was taken from a passage John Adams wrote about the Boston Tea Party.

Both of our Sara(h)s are huge fans of ESBs, and if you had a chance to check out this collab we did for Mass Beer Week you might’ve gotten a early taste of history, too!

We’ll have this on draft and in cans starting in our taproom on July 3, which also happens to be our next World Cup Block Party on School Street, starting at 2pm.
